PRINTABLE CABVIX CHECKLIST
Structured cabling
handover checklist.
Organise the physical record, test evidence, labels, exceptions and close-out information before completed cabling work is handed to the client.
A handover should describe the installed result, not only the original design. Confirm the agreed deliverables with the client and apply the project’s contractual, safety and applicable cabling requirements.
Project and site identity
- Client, project, site and building references are correct.
- Completion date, installer and responsible contact are recorded.
- Scope, exclusions and approved variations are clear.
- Communications rooms and cabinets use stable identifiers.
As-built physical records
- Rack layouts match final installed RU positions.
- Patch panels, fibre trays, switches and passive hardware are identifiable.
- Outlet schedules match the final room or floor-plan locations.
- Panel ports and individual outlet sockets are mapped correctly.
- Backbone, fibre, inter-rack and carrier paths are included where in scope.
- Final photographs are attached to the correct site, room or rack.
Labels and identification
- Rack, panel, cable and outlet labels are present and legible.
- Identifiers are consistent between hardware, schedules and plans.
- Temporary construction labels have been replaced where required.
- Duplicate, missing or inconsistent labels are listed for correction.
Testing and evidence
- Required test results are complete and linked to the correct cable or outlet.
- Failed tests and retest outcomes are identifiable.
- Test equipment and calibration details are included where required.
- Evidence filenames and references can be matched to the as-built record.
Defects and exceptions
- Outstanding defects, access limitations and unverified paths are listed.
- Approved deviations are documented with the authorising party.
- Remediation ownership and target dates are agreed where applicable.
- Client-supplied equipment or information is distinguished from installer work.
Client close-out
- Authorised recipients have received the agreed documentation.
- Access to digital records is confirmed without exposing unrelated sites.
- Warranty, support and future-change responsibilities are explained.
- Handover acceptance and any remaining actions are recorded.
Keep the handover maintainable
A static report captures a moment. The operational record should also be updated when outlets are reassigned, hardware moves or patching changes after handover.
